The company provided a hosted service for comprehensive e-mail security by blocking viruses and junk (spam) e-mail before they threaten an organisation network. The objective was to build a scalable business around a subscription model in a fast growing sector where MailDistiller can offer differentiation based on technology and service.
The company also offered a WEBaware security offering which allows internet access policy to be set for all office or remote worker user.
On April 9th 2013, it was announced that MailDistiller had been aquired by Proofpoint Inc, a NASDAQ listed US corporation specialising in cloud based information security and governance software.
