APT extends apt-X partnership with CSR

APT licensing collaborates with CSR on joint program to provide an ecosystem for higher quality stereo audio connectivity between Bluetooth A2DP enabled devices

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona (Monday, February 16,2009) – APT Licensing Ltd. (Belfast, UK) (www.aptx.com), the developer and licensor of apt-x audio compression technology, today announces an active working partnership with CSR (LSE:CSR) a leading provider of wireless semiconductors for Bluetooth connectivity, to provide a seamless ecosystem for delivering high quality stereo audio wireless connectivity between Bluetooth A2DP enabled devices, such as music mobiles, smartphones, portable media players and netbooks. This technology collaboration further advances the exisiting business-to-business relationship between the two companies established through the CSR eXtension Partner Program. This is an open program for developers of DSPs (digital signal processors), helping CSR’s electronics OEM customers differentiate their products using a range of third-party audio and DSP enhancements.

APT has demonstrated that high quality stereo audio streaming experience for consumers is achieveable using low-latency apt-X with CSR’s series of innovative single-chip Bluetooth A2DP solutions. The addition of apt-X to a Bluetooth Stereo enabled music phone would produce the wireless transport of audio at exceptionally high-fidelity.

Speaking at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain last week, Stephen Wray, VP Licensing of APT said: “Through constant technologyinnovation, CSR has become a leader supplier of advanced Bluetooth silicon for personal wireless connectivity. APT Licensing’s technology partnership with CSR has been very good for the apt-X ingredient brand. Since joining the CSR eXtension Partner Program, several leading Bluetooth module and consumer audio manufacturers have become apt-X licensees. The ecosystem we’re jointly working on brings the sonic benefits of apt-X to the discerning consumer. APT’s collaboration with CSR underlines the standing of apt-X as the go-to-audio compression system for killer stereo over a Bluetooth link.

Paul Wilson, Marketing Manager in CSR’s Audion Connectivity Business Unit added: “CSR welcomes the opportunity to further develop our mutually beneficial technology collaboration with APT Licensing. APT has a high reputation in the field of digitial audio data compression, especially in the broadcast and professional audio industries. Our partnership really brings home benefits to consumers of apt-X for full fidelity stereo audio transport over Bluetooth A2DP further enhancing the user experience for high quality stereo audio”
