Alex Hambro

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alex Hambro, has been in the private equity industry for 18 years during which time he has acted as a principal investor; manager and sponsor of private equity and venture capital management teams. Alex managed the venture capital and private equity fund investment portfolio for Hambros plc, prior to its sale to Société Générale in 1998. Alex is an independent consultant for a number of private equity and venture capital fund management groups and family office investors advising his clients on the establishment of alternative investment funds and investment strategies. Fund managers that he has advised include; Babcock & Brown Global Partners; Sand Aire Private Equity; and Prospect Investment Management Limited. In addition to his private equity activities Alex is Chairman of Judges Scientific plc; Cagney plc; and a non-executive director of Octopus Eclipse VCT 3 plc and Octopus Eclipse VCT 4 plc.

Bob McGowan-Smyth, Non Executive Director

Bob McGowan-Smyth is an experienced professional non-executive director, having previously managed Enterprise Equity, a Northern Ireland based private equity fund, spanning 14 significant investee companies. Throughout his time there Bob McGowan-Smyth was successful in realising significant returns for the organisation with some high profile deals, the last of which was the Ben Sherman sale for £80 million in 2004. Bob combines shrewd financial management with a keen business and commercial acumen, his counsel and wisdom are sought after commodities which he has put to excellent effect as a director on some 19 boards of various private and public companies.

Bob is currently a Director of Sammon Chartered Surveyors, the quantity surveying group, and Ulster Journals Limited, the publisher he is also chairman of Sammon Chartered Surveyors. His former board roles include Balcas Limited, the timber processing and renewable energy group, and Ben Sherman Limited, the international brand apparel and footwear business.
