APTX elevates new CTO Dr. David Trainor to executive director on board

Belfast based audio coding company promotes digital signal processing expert Dr. David Trainor into new CTO role and elects him to serve as an executive director on the board.
APTX, the developer and licensor of apt-X audio coding technology, today announces that Dr. David Trainor, a leading expert in the field of digital audio signal processing, has been internally promoted to the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Also, the company’s board of directors has elected Dr. Trainor to serve as an executive director on the board, joining Noel McKenna, CEO and Jon McClintock, Sales President.
Dr. Trainor joins the board of APTX as CTO as the company aggressively expands its licensing activity with Tier 1 manufacturers and raises its ‘ingredient-brand’ profile in larger global markets for high-performance audio coding in consumer electronics, multiplayer on-line gaming, professional audio and broadcasting. As Engineering Manager for the last four years, Dr. Trainor has successfully lead the company’s world-class R&D group at the company’s Belfast headquarters and is responsible for the development of application-specific audio coding algorithms for various hardware platforms and software operating systems.
Dr. Trainor presents a technical white paper on the subject of Scalable Audio Coding at the upcoming 127th Audio Engineering Society convention in New York. He is a Member of the AES, a professional body devoted exclusively to audio technology, and recently became a Senior Member of the IEEE, the highest grade of membership of the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology.
