APT’s WorldCast Eclipse Wins A Pick Hit Award At NAB

APT’s new WorldCast Eclipse IP codec received a coveted Pick Hit Award at this year’s NAB Convention in Las Vegas in recognition of its innovative product development and it ability to meet the practical needs of radio broadcasters.

WorldCast Eclipse, which was launched at the show, is a highly flexible multi-interface, multi-algorithm audio codec for a new age of broadcasting. It offers a professional and sophisticated platform for broadcasters interested in migration to IP.

The new codec offers Ethernet, X.21/V.35 and ISDN ports providing access to a wide range of networks such as IP, Leased Line, Satellite, Microwave and Dial-up. Broadcasters can also choose from a selection of major coding algorithms such as Standard and Enhanced apt-X, MPEG 1/2 Layer II/III, MPEG 4 AAC, G.711 and G.722.

WorldCast Eclipse is part of APT’s new WorldCast IP codec series, all of which have been designed to deliver optimum audio performance and reliability over IP. Other IP audio codecs making their NAB debut were the WorldCast Horizon offering broadcast-grade audio quality over IP and the WorldCast Meridian, a multi-algorithm audio codec with both IP & X.21/V.35 interfaces. All of these codecs have been designed around DSP architecture to guarantee 24/7/365 reliability for Mission Critical applications.

The Pick Hit Awards, which are sponsored by Radio magazine, are the original technology award presented at the NAB convention. First awarded in 1985, they are selected by a panel of radio professionals who work independently and anonymously to find the top new products introduced at the Convention.

Jon McClintock, APT’s commercial director, says: “We are really delighted that the WorldCast Eclipse has been selected for this honour. This award is a tremendous accolade for a brilliant product which, over time, will become a work-horse for the radio broadcast industry”
